  1. I think these are all good; they definitely have the same vibe throughout, and could transition well into each other. I think you probably need a lot more though. Considering this is a 4-5 minute talk, you’re averaging over a minute on each of these slides, which feels really awkward to me. More slides could, in theory, just be background stuff; a picture of COVID when you’re talking about the virus, a scene from a particular country or time period, etc.

  2. Hi Maia,
I am torn about Evan’s advice. I agree with him that you may have to talk for a long while about each slide, but what I like about them is that they are all “official” discourse about symptoms, illness, and staying at home. The rhetoric you are examining is consistent in this case, and I think that’s a strong suit. Perhaps you could include slides about how public perception of mask wearing has shifted or about going to work sick.

  3. Since this is about the shift it could be smart to show a public space before covid and then after covid. I agree that a few more slides could help your presentation. Other than that it looks good!

  4. Along with what everyone has already been saying, while it’s important to address what the shift has been in the scientific community, it’s also interesting to look out how public opinion has changed over the course of the year and how polarized it has become. A good way to include visuals and find supporting evidence would be from social posts. There is definitely no shortage of that.

  5. I think these are great images that really capture what the last 9 months of our lives have been like. While you will spend about a minute talking about each of these images, I don’t think that is necessarily a bad thing.
