In this assignment I enjoyed learning more about a topic that I got to choose and found interesting facts about. I was able to find a lot of information that continued to lead me to having more questions and allowed me to explore the topic further and deeper. I definitely struggled with presenting but that’s honestly nothing new at this point, I also have trouble speaking in front of people and presenting my ideas and findings to them. It was extremely hard this time because I was so focused on ensuring that I stayed within the time limit that I didn’t even do that and got extremely nervous resulting in me just rambling about my topic rather than staying on topic about what I had memorized and was a factor so me also going over the time limit. I didn’t really like anything about my presentation other than my slides because I knew that had a purpose and would help guide me and the audience from one idea to another, however since I rambled and didn’t stick to what I had memorized, it led to me feeling overall extremely disappointed in my presentation and if I could change anything, it would be being able to redo the entire presentation once more but not in front of an audience. I would say if I could change anything really, it would be me recording my presentation in my dorm and submitting it without the worry of the audience and my peers watching me, in all honesty. With that said, my last and closing remarks is that even though the assignment was a great one and we were all able to continue one topic from an essay to a TED talk, I found it a little hard and confusing how to talk about a paradigm shift in the form of a TED talk, or I simply just didn’t understand the assignment that well.

Hi Makaela,
Maybe you didn’t understand. It was not to share the paradigm shift, but to pick something you found interesting in the paper and just expand on that one particular idea.
And I know that speaking in front of people is hard, but that’s kind of the point of a speaking assignment. I hope this practice helps you to know how to get ready for future presentations.
