calorimetry

In 2011 we acquired a Netzch Jupiter 4400 calorimeter to collect thermogravimetric and calorimetric data in support of our nanoenergetics research in nanolaminate materials. The system can operate in oxidizing and inert atmospheres and is equipped with a SiC furnace with a temperature ceiling of 1400 °C.  Beyond the thermite research, the instrument is used for characterizing solid state reactions, measuring oxidation, and quantifying entropic transitions.

Chloe Skidmore is the principal instrument user.
