FE-Ever-oxide
The FE-Ever-oxide title represents out group’s hypothesis that novel ferroelectric crystals are hiding everywhere, and only require a polar host whose polar orientation can be chemically “destabilized” and persuaded to the switching state. Chemical substitutions may soften the lattice energy landscape by approaching a phase separation instability where polar re-orientation is energetically faborable. FE-Ever-oxide is a deposition tool designed to explore formulation space to find these exciting materials. The system features 6 source ports with compact 1″ magentron cathodes to expedite composition space with convenient, inexpensive, and often in-house prepared targets. Current candidates of interest include ZnO, Ga2O3, V2O5, and GeO2 parent systems.
