laser ablation 1.0
Laser ablation 1.0 is the first PLD tool built by our group in 2010. This flagship instrument was originally used for BaTiO3 thin film deposition, inspired by frequency tunable microwave devices. After a successful Ph.D. dissertation in that topic, PLD 1.0 was used to prepare entropy-stabilized oxides, it was the first chamber to host the original ESO composition “J14”. 1.0 continues to produce high entropy compositions and will remain as a counterpart to the 4th PLD system in our group that is currently under construction. This instrument offers rapid substrate and target changes, a compact chamber for quick pump-down, a 850 °C capable manipulator, and a completely water-cooled double-walled chamber.
