I’ve taken a big leap forward with my site planning. The first step is always the hardest and that step was finding out which site maker I intended to use to develop my webcomic. The two immediate choices that I had were either WordPress or Squarespace. While I’ve heard nothing but praise for Squarespace’s CMS, I was really disappointed with how short it came in terms of interfaces suitable for a webcomic site, so I scuttled the idea of using Squarespace altogether.
I decided to make a second PSU site (named “Protocomic”) and explore the free WordPress themes to see what kinds could be useful in making a webcomic. I hit gold when I discovered page-turning site theme that allows for you to create buttons for easy page-turning. I tested the function with some of my webcomic’s concept and promotional art. I was also able to set the site to automatically open up to the latest page, while also allowing a user to go to the start of the comic with the touch of a button.
With the paycheck I got over the weekend I’ll be able to create the real site, and buy a URL name for it first thing monday morning.
