Monarch Joint Venture Education Program Opportunities

Monarch Joint Venture’s education program began in 2019 and plays a large role in helping achieve its mission to protect and conserve the monarch butterfly and its migration. The education program is generously supported by the US Forest Service International Program, donations, and fee-based programming.

The education program aims to:

  1. Create a more connected and informed partner network for education and outreach for monarchs.
  2. Provide relevant and reliable monarch education information and tools to partners and other stakeholders.
  3. Communicate scientific outcomes to the public and partners to inform education practices.
  4. Connect partners, stakeholders, and the public to the resources they need to effectively communicate and educate others about monarch conservation.

MJV achieves these goals by offering programs in three different avenues: public classes and training, professional development workshops, and the “Monarchs and More” curriculum. The public classes and training are offered in-person and virtually to accommodate emerging monarch enthusiasts as well as experts. The professional development workshops help educators, scientists, and non-formal science educators to collaborate and study monarchs together. The “Monarchs and More” curriculum has three different grade levels and is the backbone to the professional development program. Each are linked below for more information, or can be found under Education in the Programs tab on the website’s homepage.
