Penn State Math Club

Where fans of Math and Pizza come together

Club Officers

President: Ian Kwon

Bio: Ian is a junior majoring in Math and Statistics, minoring in IST. He is interested in how math and numbers relate to the real world: especially sports and philosophy. In his free time, he likes to watch baseball and football.

Vice PresidentJulia Trigg

Bio: Julia is a junior majoring in math and statistics, and she hopes to be an actuary. Outside of the actuarial world, she researched uncontrollable cell growth at the intersection of math and biology (which, unpopular opinion, is better than physics). She does her best to give back when she can through her involvement on campus in UNICEF and music service club. In her free time, she can be found playing ukulele, napping, or spending time with her pet skunk.

Treasurer: Ilsa Smith

Bio: Ilsa is a junior majoring in Actuarial Science and minoring in Statistics and Economics. She is a member of 7 different organizations, and studied abroad in Brighton, England this past summer. When not ordering pizza for math club, she can be found online shopping, running at the gym, or eating at Chic-fil-A.

Secretary: Kristin Sickau

Email: (Not a joke, try it out!)

Bio: A Senior majoring in Math, Kristin currently serves as the Math Club secretary. Within the math sector, she also serves as a Math Peer Tutoring Coordinator for Penn State Learning, a Grader and Proctor for the Math Department. and conducts research under the direction of Dr. Ludmil Zikatanov thanks to funding from the Women in Mathematics group. On the occasion that she finds a bit of free time, Kristin can be found running, playing flute, and getting her hopes up about the prospects of Buffalo sports (only to have them crushed season after season).

Web Master: Leah Hunt

Bio: Leah is a junior majoring in math and statistics, taking the computational option for both, and looking to minor in economics, IST, and/or history. When not enjoying pizza at Math Club, she may be found at Schreyer Student Council meetings or working on research (astrophysics, not math).

Social Chair: Richard Suhendra

Bio: Richard is a senior majoring in Mathematics with a minor in Statistics. His interests lie mainly within the domain of mathematical biology, which means PDEs, probability, and dancing put a big smile on his face. He’s also one of the Math tutoring peer coordinators, so shout out to him if you’re interested in being hired. When not doing his math homework, he’s usually watching “that hot new Netflix show” or playing Super Smash Bros.
