Today we are going to talk about one of my favorite topics: FOOD! There are three breakfast places in the heart of downtown Bozeman that, at least in my opinion, are quinntessential and iconic. Their names are Main Street Overeasy, The Nova Cafe, and Jam. Just typing their names brings makes me so nostalgic and brings a smile to my face. Every single person in Bozeman has been to each at least once, I’m sure.
Main Street Overeasy
Main Street Overeasy, or Overeasy for short is such a crowd favorite they offer a wide selection of food to pick from and cater well to all ages. When my grandparents visit they always want to eat at Overeasy. For kids they have mickey mouse pancakes elaborately decorated with various fruits, whipped cream and of course, sprinkles. They also have delicious hot chocolate with mile high whipped cream topped with rainbow sprinkles. And for the adults they have a large chalkboard wall in the back that they change every day with the specials. One of my personal favorites is the custom omelette with broccoli and tomatoes. The biggest downside to overeasy is that it is always busy. It is hard to find parking, hard to find seating, and there is usually a long wait for your food.
The Nova Cafe
The oldest of the three, The Nova Cafe, has a much more calm atmosphere than Overeasy. They have tables spread out and also offer toys for kids to play with. Nova is known around town for their famous hot chocolate. Although Overeasy has very impressive whipped cream and sprinkles, nothing can top the designs made with chocolate sauce in the whipped cream of the Nova hot chocolate Nova is also very crowded, but they have more space to accomodate for many parties waiting to be seated, whereas Overeasy does not. The menu at The Nova is less diverse than that of Overeasy or Jam but almost everything on the menu is good in my opinion.
Jam
Jam is the new trendy breakfast place in town. While some more traditionalists might not be big fans of Jam, I love it. They have so many things on their menu that I never would’ve even thought to try, but it works. Just like the other two, Jam is always busy, but they seat you very quickly. Jam also did a very good job with their design. The way the restaurant is set up allows for a high maximum occupancy without feeling cramped. Despite so many people being in there it is still very easy to talk with the people at your table, which is not the case for Overeasy. The decorations hit Bozeman perfectly, there’s the perfect balance between artsiness and rusticness, while also feeling the most established and professional of the three.
Verdict
This decision is not quite as hard as the last ones have been. Although I have complete love in my heart for all three, I can say with absolute certainty that Mainstreet Overeasy is my favorite breakfast establishment in Bozeman.
