Is Vaping a Safer Alternative to Smoking?

An example of a rhetorical artifact is the Behance anti-vaping campaign website. On this website they have a plethora of ad posters and each one has a meaning or statement that persuades the audience about the disadvantages of vaping.

Each ad has an illustration that is in black and white filter on each of their ads to create a sense of fear and negativity. They also use the background color as black. The color black is associated with death and evil. The ad chooses these colors to persuade the audience that vaping is not a positive or joyous commodity. In each of the campaigns they make the audience question themselves about their views on vaping. For instance, in an ad that emphasizes the downside of teen vaping they ask the question “Would you still vape with your friends if you found out that chemicals in E-cigarettes can damage lung tissue and cause inflammation?”  They state this to make the audience think twice about being pure pressured to vaping by also adding the fatal consequences that is associated with this action.

The website also uses health facts to warn the audience about the causes of vaping. “Damage can reduce the ability of the lungs to keep out germs and other harmful substances.” They are trying to scare the audience with factual evidence to highlight the effects of using vapes.

In conclusion, we see anti- vaping ads like the ones on Behance campaign website everywhere we go. We see anti-vaping ads on television, in stores, and even in the bathrooms. We have made these campaign ads a commonplace. Vaping has increased throughout the years and our society has normalized it. We ignore the anti-vaping ads that are posted all around us.

  1. Vaping is so incredibly dangerous and we keep seeing horror stories on the news recently of kids dying from it and nothing is changing which is ridiculous in my opinion. I think ever since the articles of the kids dying came out, people will hopefully be a lot more cautious and smart about what they’re putting in their body. Especially with all of the morbid ads trying to use facts to scare people into stopping.
