For today’s post, we are going to do something a little different…we are going to visit TWO new places! I realized today that the semester is coming to an end and consequently so is my passion blog. So, I decided to double-up on my spots for today for two reasons. Firstly, I have actually been to one of these locations we’re gonna talk about today already in my lifetime but I could not leave it out just for that fact. Secondly, when I actually do my road trip, I know there are going to be way more than just seven stops along the way and so I thought I would cover an extra one today. Anyway, without further ado, let’s get started with our first location of the day: Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada!
This beautiful lake is located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and is situated right on the border between California and Nevada lying in both states! When concerned with the lake, generally one refers to either North Lake Tahoe or South Tahoe. Both areas provide an abundance of activities depending on the season which range from skiing and snowboarding, trail riding, paddle boarding, hiking, fishing, golfing, hang gliding, embarking on cruises, and even just relaxing on the beach. These are the types of activities that I just cannot get enough of. I had visited Lake Tahoe with my family when I was young, probably around the age of five. Sadly, I don’t remember much about it from a personal standpoint, however, that gives me just the right reason to go back again!
As for lodging, there are plenty of options including your pick of resorts, hotels, inns, rentals, and B&Bs. Unfortunately for me, the travel websites I have looked at have not provided an information regarding campgrounds for those of us who prefer sleeping in the great outdoors. However, I am sure it’ll be nice to stay in a real hotel for once!
Now onto our second location of the day, Crater Lake National Park, Oregon! This national park is characterized by Crater Lake (like the name…duh) which is the deepest lake in America. Another interesting fact is that the park has ninety miles of trails throughout its forests. Like Lake Tahoe, this area is also full of exciting activities similar to those found at many of the spots along my road trip. Also like most other spots, COVID-19 has impacted the travel and interaction guidelines unfortunately. However, when at an optimal time, Crater Lake National Park provides plenty of activities like snowshoeing, snowboarding and skiing, hiking, backcountry camping, boat and trolley tours, and so much more! This national park is also very kid-friendly in regards to activities, for example families can opt for a Ranger program where the kids can tour the park with a park ranger. There are also boat and trolley tours of the park, too.
Lodging in this area consists of The Crater Lake Lodge and The Cabins at Mazama Village, as well as, two campgrounds available for use within the park: Mazama Campground and Lost Creek Campground.
I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into Lake Tahoe, CA/NV and Crater Lake National Park, Oregon!

Hailing from New Jersey, I have always been a big beachgoer, so lakes were offputting to me. However, reading your blog continues to change my tune. All these lakes seem so clean and pristine; I would love to visit them! I’m not much of an outdoorswoman myself, but I wouldn’t mind camping by Lake Tahoe.

I’ve always heard such amazing things about Lake Tahoe and you added to that! I’ve never heard of Crater Lake though and I feel like I’d want to visit there more than Lake Tahoe cause it just seems like such a site! Unlike Taylor, lakes are more my speed rather than oceans, and I’d love to see both lakes sometime in my life!

This seems really cool. I have been trying to get my family to go to Lake Tahoe for years but it has not happened yet :/ Hopefully someday soon though!
