For this blog post, I am going to talk about the Middle Eastern city of Dubai. Dubai proves to be a magnificent, modern city filled with unique architecture, beaches, and cultural activities. There happen to be wondrous shopping malls, amusement parks, and boardwalks to had an abundance of attractions which makes Dubai such an interesting city.

An obvious attraction in Dubai happens to be the Burj Khalifa. This building stands at an outstanding 828 meters tall making it the tallest building in the world. The architecture of the tower incorporates both Islamic architecture and modern influences. The “Y” shaped building serves multiple purposes. One reason is to maximize the number of windows that the building can have and the other reason allowing wind to pass through the building. The building also includes a lot of sustainable options including collecting water from the air conditioner condensations. Burj Khalifa had to pass multiple safety regulations before allowing people to access the top and the lounges located near the top of the building. The view from the top is breathtaking as you can see all around Dubai on the 124th-floor observation deck.

The Dubai Mall is another attraction that is truly outstanding in both its architecture and amenities. This mall is home to over 1,300 different stores and over 200 food and dining options. Unlike any other mall, this attraction offers 5-star hotels, an aquarium, an Olympic sized ice rink, a Kidzania area, a virtual reality park, and a movie theater. With all of these attractions within one mall, you could spend days here with endless entertainment. The Dubai Mall attracts around 100 million visitors every year.

One other unique attraction that Dubai has to offer is Palm Jumeirah. This man-made island system is in the shape of a palm tree. It is constructed from reclaimed land to recreate a tropical island persona. While on the island you have access to Dubai’s most luxurious resorts. Relax on the sandy beaches, sail on boats or yachts, skydive over the islands, and enjoy the beautiful view of the city’s skyline. Club Vista Mare is where the restaurants are situated. They mainly serve fresh seafood with an Arabic touch to it. These islands prove to be one of a kind and, as locals say “only in Dubai.” The more I read and research about Dubai the more I would love to visit one day. The abundance of activities with both a cultural and modern twist adds to the intriguing appeal of the city.
