For my last ever blog post, I will be talking about the incredible country of Croatia. My friend visited Croatia this past year and the pictures and stories that she told me were fascinating. I never realized how beautiful the country was and how each city has a rich history. While I was researching pictures and the best things to do in Croatia I became more eager to travel there one day.
The first destination, Hvar Town, is known to be a quaint town amongst the Dalmatian Islands. This town is known for its exquisite hotels, seafood restaurants, and frequent visits from various celebrities. Hvar dates back to Venetian rule between 1420-1797 and remains a car-less town. There is a centrally located main square that is overlooked by cathedrals and fortresses. The beaches and aqua blue water attracts all types of tourists whether they relax on the beaches or sail peacefully on the water. Hvar is such a unique town that has a historical and modern appearance in its architecture. In order to reach Hvar, you must take a ferry from the city of Split to the islands.
One popular inland attraction is the Plitvice Lakes National Park. This park contains a series of waterfalls that lead to emerald-colored lakes. Over the years, these waterfalls have created natural dams which lead to more lakes throughout the park. There is also an abundance of limestone caves to explore underneath many of the waterfalls. There are set footpaths for individual exploration, but there are also boat rides for those who buy tickets to tour the national park. This well kept national park is home to diverse wildlife. The most common animals include bears, wolves, owls, eagles, and falcons. Although some are concerned about the presence of bears and wolves, these animals are timid towards humans and are used to the constant scent of humans.
One very interesting attraction in Croatia is the Zlatni Rat Beach. Located on the island of Brac, this beach is made out of fine pebbles and stretches 500 meters perpendicular to the regular coast. This beach is so unique that it happens to be the most photographed beach in all of Croatia. Besides the beach formation, the water happens to be extremely warm which attracts beachgoers and water sports. The activities range from paddle boating, kayaking, and sailing along the coast. Zlatni Rat Beach also happens to be Croatia’s number one windsurfing location as well.
Croatia is overall such a breathtaking country. The amount of history mixed with beautiful beaches makes Croatia the perfect vacation destination. Croatia is 100% on my bucket list for places to visit within the next couple of years!

I have to say, out of all of the attractions highlighted here, I would be most excited to visit Plitvice Lakes National Park. Emerald lakes and limestone caves sound other-worldly and I would love the adventure. It also sounds like a great place for an amateur photographer like me to take some good-looking photos! Thanks for sharing and I hope that you can visit Croatia soon!
