Project Abstract
Cultural relics are valuable to the research community. However, access to them is limited due to their location and fragile nature. Some policies have been enacted to protect this artwork, but this is at the expense of the visually impaired. There have been previous attempts to fix this problem with modern technology. We developed a system that digitizes and creates 3D-models of items using a 3D scanner and gantry system. Previous researchers have created a similar system, but it is expensive. In order to make this process more affordable, we created a slightly different system by replacing some components such as the OCT scanner with a blue semiconductor laser scanner. This added affordability should help make this technology more accessible.
