Project Abstract
Diarylethene photochromes have shown great promise in organo-electronics, photochemical switches, drug delivery vehicles, optical data storage systems, and metal-organic frameworks. There has been a push towards making diarylethenes that can be used in metal-organic frameworks, which could make gas separation systems such as carbon capture more efficient. Here we introduce the synthesis of a cyano DAE which has nitrogen lone pairs that will allow functionality in a metal-organic framework in future lines of research.
