MEGA GBM Spring 2020

First Multicultural Engineering Graduate Association General Body Meeting will be Wednesday 

January 22nd at 5PM.  RSVP here by January 17th close of business so we know how much food to provide!

The Office of Graduate Educational Equity Programs has a limited number of tickets available for the 45th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr banquet which will be held Wednesday, January 152020, at the Bryce Jordan Center (BJC). Doors open at 5:30 pm and the banquet will begin at 6:00 pm.  The theme for this year’s banquet is “The Story of US The Unarmed Truth”


The program includes a buffet dinner and cash bar, followed by performances and recognition of the 2020 Forum on Black Affairs (FOBA) Humanitarian Award recipient and student scholarship winners. Immediately following the banquet, guests are welcomed to stay for a night of dancing.  Attire for the event ranges from business to semi-formal.

Happy New Year!  I hope you had a good break and productive start to the new semester. I am writing to invite you to our Graduate STEM Scholar luncheons this spring. We meet in the Assembly Room at the Nittany Lion Inn from 12 pm to 1:30 pm for lunch, professional development and community. Our first lunch is Monday, January 27 and will feature a guest speaker – Dr. Laura Briscoe, who is a staff psychologist with Penn State’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Scholarship Opportunity
Celebrating The Hispanic Engineer

The Association of Cuban-American Engineers Scholarship Foundation, Inc. offers scholarships (ranging from $500 to $2,500) to Hispanic engineering students.  In the past, many of the scholarships granted have gone to deserving undergraduate and graduate students.
The organization began accepting applications in November.  Applications can be submitted through January 31st, 2020 and the awards will presented in March 2020.  Among other things, you must have completed 30 credit hours, were enrolled in the fall and will be enrolled this spring.

You can apply online on the Foundation’s updated website http://www.cubanamericanengineers.com    You will also need to submit an official transcript and the first page of your student aid report (SAR).  The complete scholarship application instructions are available on the website at the bottom of the application form.

Please submit with complete text and any fliers or images that can be directly copied into the email.
