1. Additional resources for those affected by the COVID-19 closure

Hello all,

As I’m sure you all know by now, in order to proactively reduce the spread of COVID-19, Penn State has suspended all in-person classes, asked students to not return to their dorms, and decided to keep dining halls closed until April 3rd.
As we have seen at other universities, we predict this will result in a lot of housing and food insecurity, and gaps in access to education for many graduate and undergraduate students.
To help combat this, we will be asking for volunteers to offer any aide they can, including, for example a couch to sleep on, meals, grocery store pick-ups, rides (eg. to libraries for internet access), tutoring to help with online learning, and anything else you can think of! We are also asking what do you need and how can we help?
Anyone in need of additional help or resources let us know using this formCOVID-19 at PSU: Request for help/ resources
Anyone who can offer help let us know using this formCOVID-19 at PSU: Offer of Help/ Resources
Please, share these forms as widely as possible– this is not only for the use of graduate students.
We are additionally preparing an official response, which will include requests and recommendations for Penn State to mitigate negative impacts of these new policies; we will release this soon. If you or anyone you know has any concerns about the impacts of these policies to you, please let us know.
In solidarity, and with well-washed hands,
The Coalition of Graduate Employees
