Lesson Plan Assignment

Lesson Plan

Lesson Plans. What are the goals for the day? What is the plan for the day?

I have worked with lesson plans before during my time programming with 4-H. While there is a general outline for how a lesson plan should flow, I really believe in having a map of how time should move and a list of required equipment/supplies. I really want my lesson plan to lay out the lesson and be a reference for the instructor.

Personally, I need to work with the Warm-Up (beginning of a lesson) and the  Wrap-Up (ending of a lesson). This is something that I have never “officially” been taught how to do successfully, which I realized really impacted how this lesson plan ended. During my own formal education, my instructors have spent so much time teaching me how to have great teaching moments, but this is only the top of the mountain. How do I get up the mountain? How do I get down the mountain? This is going to be something that I want to research because I want to make sure my teaching is successful throughout the lesson, not just the middle.

Overall, I feel like my lesson plan would flow nicely because students are not just sitting and listening to a power point presentation. I made sure to pay attention to the 10-15 minute change rule. I want my students to be involved, to have a discussion and be able to apply what they learned in class. I really enjoyed learning about agricultural economics and geography so I want to get my students to be involved so they can enjoy this subject as well.
