An Americanist on the Prowl.

Welcome to The Lady Americanist (at Work)! Here you will find discussions about academia, the practical side of being a scholar, and my many research interests. My current research looks at the intersection of business & corporate culture with American popular culture and media. How much impact does the business world have on the media one consumes (spoiler alert: it’s a lot)? How much of popular culture is based on business decisions and not the culture at large? Why does NBC insist on spoiling the Olympic games for me through its Twitter account? Why won’t my toddler stop watching Toy Story? I plan on addressing these topics and so many more here at The Lady Americanist.

Briefly, I have a B.A. in American Studies from La Salle University and a M.A. in American Studies from Penn State Harrisburg.  I have presented at numerous regional and national conferences, most recently in the regional award winner panel at the American Studies Association conference in Los Angeles, CA.  I have teaching experience in American History, American Studies, Freshman Composition, Media Studies, Film Appreciation, and Women’s Studies at both of my alma maters, as well as at Philadelphia University.

If you would like to contact me about employment opportunities or to discuss my research, please see the “Contact the Lady Americanist” tab.
