Helpful Local Agencies for Migrant Families

Listed below are local agencies that may be able to help MEP families dealing with legal, educational, health, and other immigration-related challenges. Many also need volunteers.

  • Greater Reading Immigration Project(GRIP)“coalition of community volunteers working to raise awareness about immigration issues in Berks County…our primary focus is to educate the community on the issues facing local youth and their families…”
  • GRIP’s DeFacto American Support Group–offers emotional help and guidance to high school and college students who are immigrants in Reading.
  • Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center“PIRC provides free, effective legal representation, legal counsel, education, and advocacy to help immigrants obtain or protect their legal status.”
  • HIASPA–“provides legal and supportive services to immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers from all backgrounds.”
  • PEAL Center–“dedicated to families of children with disabilities and special health care needs.”
  • Farmworker Justice“nonprofit organization that seeks to empower migrant and seasonal farmworkers to improve their living and working conditions, immigration status, health, occupational safety, and access to justice.”
