Bilingual Children’s Books

Read alouds with bilingual children’s books are great ways to help MEP students’ language skills!  A great place to start finding books is Libros for Language, a digital library designed for teachers.

There are an unlimited number of ways to be creative with ELL read alouds: check out the ELL Reader’s Theater activity by Kristina Robertson of Reading Rockets.

How to Search: Limit your search by “Format” to “Juvenile Book”.  Identify books you like and click the “Request” buttons to deliver the books to the front desk at Thun Library in 2-3 business days.

Why Bilingual Books?

Bilingual books like Side by Side| Lado A Lado offer parallel texts written in English and Spanish, making them great for teaching either language!  Many of these books cover topics relevant to MEP students.  Lots of colorful illustrations help young readers understand the words.
