The MEP provides a path to higher education. Here are resources that may provide stepping stones for MEP students. These resources may be especially helpful for “Be a Penn Stater for a Day” volunteers.

Finding A College
- Peterson’s–the best college search tool on the web. Run a search with a MEP student and then use the “Filters” at the top right to narrow to major, geographic location, SAT, ACT, GPA, admission difficulty, tuition, and more.
- Latino Students at Penn State Berks!–Spanish-language information about the advantages of going to Berks and links to start the admissions process.
SAT Test Prep Resources
- SAT Official Site (CollegeBoard)
- SAT Practice (College Board/Khan Academy Partnership)–8 free official tests, huge numbers of practice questions, test-taking strategies, videos, and more!
Financial Aid
- Hispanic Scholarship Fund–the best place to start searching for scholarships.
- Scholarship Resource List (Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities)–extensive list of public and private scholarship opportunities for Hispanic students.
- DACA Dreamers (The National Scholarship Fund)–available to PA students.
- Latino U College Access–includes scholarships for undocumented students.
- Greater Reading Immigration Project Scholarship Fund–local scholarship “for talented students whose immigration status makes them ineligible for State and Federal financial aid.”
Admissions
- ¡Gradúate! Guide to Success Series (U.S. Department of Education)–great information, in Spanish, about navigating the complex college application process. Print and share with your MEP participants! Videos you can show too!
- 15 Tips to Get Accepted (Hispanic Outlook)–advice for admission to ivy league schools, but the tips apply to any college.
