Course Description: ENGL202D: Business Writing
English 202D: Effective communication, Business Writing is an undergraduate general education course. Students will be instructed through lecture, guest speakers, reading assignments, activities, and writing workshops. Students will develop the skills needed to communicate effectively in writing in business settings. During this course, students are guided through exercises that support synthesis and application of writing concepts. Students will write and revise different types of business documents. This rigorous course has six major writing assignments. Each assignment is commonly expected of employees in the workforce, regardless of their academic discipline or leverages related skills. Additionally, students are exposed to concepts such as hidden bias, implied tone, intended and unintended audience to prepare them for the dynamic and sometimes unpredictable nature of communicating in professional settings, appropriately managing a digital identity, and shifting from consumer thinking to contributor behavior.
