Upcoming construction announcements for Penn State Mont Alto

Allied Health building
In early May 2020, ground will be broken for the new Allied Health Building. The 21,000-square-foot building will house current programs for nursing, physical therapy and occupational therapy programs. The building will consist of classroom, lab and office space. Completion of the building is anticipated for fall 2021.

General Studies Auditorium
It is anticipated that the auditorium renovation project will start in May 2020 and be completed by the start of the fall 2020 semester. Currently, the auditorium has an elevated stage and flat seating. The new design will lower the stage and raise patron seating. Seating will expand to 157 seats, which will include an accessible stage and additional accessible seating areas. It will undergo sound and audio-visual upgrades, and flooring and lighting will be replaced.
Outdoor classroom
Construction for an outdoor classroom area will take place in the spring of 2020. The first phase of enhancements will take place below the roadway adjacent to the science and technology building, and just above the multipurpose building. It will feature new landscaping elements such as natural hardscape tiered seating, hardscape walkways and plantings. In addition, landscape improvements will be made around the multipurpose building to mitigate potential flooding issues that the campus experienced last year.
Conklin roof
A new roof is anticipated for Conklin Hall. The terra-cotta roof is original to the building’s 1908 construction, and it will be replaced with one of the same design. Roof tiles will be replaced and a new weather shield underlayment applied, providing a roof that is anticipated to last another 100+ years. The project is expected to begin in spring 2020 and be completed this fall.
