I am honored to work for Penn State University, where faculty are engaged in teaching, research, and service. I recently published a book on Holocaust and Human Rights Education. I am also co-editing an OER on The Holocaust: Remembrance, Respect, and Resilience. I am a member of the American Sociological Association (ASA) and a past president of our Hazleton Campus Faculty Senate. In 2023, I won a Penn State advising award.
Students can explore courses that I teach through this site, the PSU Bulletin, or (as enrolled students) our Canvas courses. My office hours are under the ‘communications’ tab and in our syllabi. Independent study courses are possible thanks to PSU. I teach Sociology 1, Soc 30, Soc 119N, Hist/Soc 145N, Engl/Cmlit 128N, and PSU8, though not every semester.
Colleagues, students, and friends are welcome to call or email me to discuss common interests and opportunities. I also organize and participate in Zoom meetings and webinars (with students in courses and with others); I am happy to interact online to advance our common goals and activities.
We celebrate years of service to PSU each year. I am privileged to work with great people and teach awesome students. A few of my colleagues are pictured (in 2019):
