Today we will be discussing the unique foods and snacks offered at Walt Disney World. Most of these foods are common American foods, but with a twist. Some items are exclusive to certain theme parks, and others can be found all around. So, let’s get right into it.
First, we will be talking about the classic Dole Whip. Dole Whip is a soft-serve pineapple dessert. It is non-dairy, but it is closely related to ice cream. This is my personal favorite snack because I am lactose-intolerant, so it is the perfect cold snack to get me through a hot day at the theme parks. At Magic Kingdom, they have the ‘I Lava You’ float which has Orange flavored dole-whip, Fanta soda, passionfruit syrup, and popping candy (kind of like pop rocks). This is such a tasty dessert and it is definitely one of my favorites.
Another fan favorite is the Disney candy apples. These are apples coated in caramel and some have an extra layer of chocolate. Also, you can’t forget the decorations. I personally do not like these candy apples because they stick to your teeth. If you want to have a cavity after eating this, then be my guest. The flavor is good, I’ll give them that. Although I do not like these, many people love going to a candy shop called “Candy Cauldron” in Disney Springs where you can actually see the apples being made in the storefront window. There, customers can get their preferred Disney candy apple since they all have different character designs and themes.
Moving away from the sweets, next is the Mickey Mouse pretzel. These pretzels are just like any other pretzels, just mickey mouse-shaped. They are a little bit dry, but people like to eat them with cheese or mustard. Another issue that I have found is that they tend to be really hard, which defeats the purpose of a soft pretzel. I like getting the pretzel, but I am more of a sweets person. However, this kind of snack is full of carbs which would help you stay full during a long day at a theme park. Some people also don’t like how salty this is, but the saltiness is right up my alley!
The last snack we will be talking about is the loaded tater tots. These can be found in Hollywood studios in the Toy Story Land area of the park. These are very tasty because of all the stuff loaded onto them, which includes beef and bean chili, shredded cheese, queso, tomatoes, corn chips, green onions, and sour cream. If it makes you feel any better, the tater tots are baked, not fried. This is very good food to eat at the parks and can serve as a meal more so than a snack. Also, you don’t need to go into a whole restaurant to have this food because I know going to eat in a Disney restaurant can be a huge interruption to one’s day. I haven’t had these yet but they are going on my list.
