Welcome to the Research Lab for Applied Mechanics of Advanced Materials (RAM 2.0) at Penn State Altoona. We are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of knowledge and innovation in the field of applied mechanics and advanced materials. Our diverse and dynamic group delves into a wide spectrum of multidisciplinary challenges from the intricate realm of multiscale additive manufacturing to the pioneering development of novel multifunctional Fiber Reinforced Composites. Moreover, we explore the fundamental mechanics of materials in the most demanding and extreme environments. We try to develop advanced composite materials by using conventional and advanced manufacturing methods and try to understand their mechanics at a wide range of loading. Our research focus is on understanding the mechanics of solids and structures in challenging environments, and at high temperatures and high strain rates in particular.
