The SpectraMax M5 Microplate Reader is a dual-monochromator, multi-detection, multi-mode instrument with a triple-mode cuvette port and 6-well to 384-well microplate reading
capability. Detection modes are absorbance, fluorescence intensity, fluorescence polarization, time-resolved fluorescence, and luminescence.
To start using the plate reader, you need to
- create an account in iLab
- contact Tatiana with your name as it appears on your iLab account
- be added to the trained users list to be able to reserve the plate reader in iLab
The plate reader is free to use, but the iLab account must have an active fund associated with the user name or the user’s lab. The plate reader usage statistics in the iLab inform the equipment maintenance decisions.
To familiarize yourself with the instrument, please read relevant parts of the hardware and software manuals. A much shorter and easier to read tutorial is available to you, courtesy of Dr. Emily Bell, Assistant Director, Center for Cellular Dynamics: Using SpectraMax plate reader
Please bring your own pipettes and tips, plates, gloves, and other necessary supplies for your experiments.
Currently, the plate reader is located in room 003, Althouse (basement). The access to the room is provided only during the Proteomics and MS Core Facility business hours (8:30 AM – 5:30 PM Mon-Fri). There is no access at night and/or during the weekends and holidays.
Business hours during the COVID-19 restrictions: 9 AM – 5:00 PM Tue – Fri
