Facility during COVID-19

The Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Core Facility operation has been modified based on the State and the University recommendations.

Access to the SpectraMax microplate reader: Tue – Fri 9 AM – 5 PM.

First-time users

  1. The Althouse building is now unlocked (checked 08/12/2020). If it becomes locked down again, you should get card access to Althouse. You can go on the Huck Facilities page and fill out the physical access request.
  2. Follow instructions on the plate reader page

Trained users

  1. The Althouse building is now unlocked (checked 08/12/2020). If it becomes locked down again, you should get card access to Althouse. You can go on the Huck Facilities page and fill out the physical access request.
  2. Reserve the plate reader through iLab, as usual.

Note: The plate reader work area is sanitized regularly. Hand sanitizer is provided for you to use. If you prefer, use soap and water; sink is behind you. Please, keep the area neat, it makes it easier to clean.

Access to MALDI TOF MS: Tue – Fri 9 AM – 5 PM.

Trained users

  1. Arrange the time with Tatiana to pick up a clean target plate and supplies.
  2. One user may work at the instrument at a given time. If you are not confident in your operator skills, submit your prepared plate with necessary information, and Tatiana will analyze your samples for you at the low user rate.

Training of new users is postponed until December 4, 2020.

Submitting samples for MS analysis

Tatiana accepts samples  Tue – Fri 9 AM – 5 PM by appointment.

Please email ahead of time (TNL1@PSU.EDU) to ensure that the instruments work and Tatiana is able to pick up your samples.

Place your samples in a white bin outside the Facility door and email Tatiana when done,
