Schitt’s Creek

Schitt’s creek is a tv series on Netflix that is like no other. This Netflix show is focused around a family of four who lost all their riches and home, and then ending up in a run-down, old, and dusty town. Johnny Rose was a filthy rice man who provided for his family, but also did the wife Moira Rose, who was a once known movie actress. They have two spoiled children, Alexis and David.

The family finds themselves at Schitt’s Creek due to them purchasing the town a few years back as a joke. But it comes to find out, its the only real thing they own anymore. Family is a huge part of this show as it shows the development of the characters, yet remaining true to their ever so strange humor.

While in the town, they each meet a set of individuals who are less than anyone they normally would associate themselves with. Stevie, is an owner of the motel that the family is now living out of and there are more interesting characters like Rowland Schitt, mayor of the town (only by birthright). Crammed rich people does not work and leads to many hilarious encounters that just progressively makes the show even more entertaining.

Audiences who watch this show are mainly people who enjoy a good humorous life that happened to people who once were at the top, but now are equals to a redneck community. Everyone for some reason likes to watch the downfall and the new developments of people’s lives, especially when it’s not relatable to one’s own life.

Each episode is around 21 minutes long, which creates an almost instant addiction as you just need to see more and more because 21 minutes is not enough. There are some cliff hooks and some twists and turns that allow for people to stay engaged and question what’s coming next.

The Rose’s do try to escape the town by selling it, but they are at a lost and are forced to remain there while their friends and past continue to flourish without them. While stuck in town, Johnny takes on helping with the motel, Moira gets back into show bis–even if it’s in the smallest town ever, Alexis finds true love and education, and David makes his own lush business store.

I do recommend this show, but I recommend it if you are able to watch a dry humor show that has comedic points that you never thought would be said. Especially due to the ignorance of their sarcastic mouths.

  1. This show seems like the type I would enjoy with its dry humor. It’s also interesting how the audience at first may not be able to relate to the TV characters because of the economic disparity. But after watching more episodes, the audience realizes that they, in fact, can relate with the characters as the story develops and the characters endure personal problems.

  2. I feel like I probably wouldn’t really like this show, since like you said it has dry humor, which I don’t always tend to like. However, it sounds pretty funny and interesting. I like how you talk about how people can relate to the show.

  3. I love dry humor, I read the synopsis for this show and sounds up my alley, thanks for the recommendation.
