Supernatural is a tv show where two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, witness their mother’s paranormal death and are both trained to fight by their father, who aims to hunt down the thing that killed his wife. Each episode and season Dean and Sam take on new monsters and develop skills and encounter things they never believed they would. There are around fifteen seasons with about twenty-two episodes in each season.
Violent memories and relationship-threatening secrets add additional burdens on Sam and Dean as they investigate all things that go bump in the night. As old tricks and tools are rendered useless and friends betray them, the brothers must rely on each other as they encounter new enemies. The first episode of this amazing series came out in 2005! Their main theme song is Carry On Wayward Son, and I thought I would throw that in there as it has become one of my favorite old songs to listen to because of this show.
This show has gathered a strong audience and following for a horror series. With a 93% on rotten tomatoes and 8.4/10 on IMDB, Supernatural is very popular and is rated very high. I believe that people enjoy this show for many reasons, one being both of the characters are insanely hot and watching them fight bad things is just the cherry on top. If you looked on rotten tomatoes website it gives a run down per season on the % of people who like them. Season one was rated 87%, season two was 100%, season three with 86%, season five 90, season six and seven both 100%, season eight was less liked with a 63%, and afterward it was 90-100% on the remaining seasons. This show is not bad, and actually has a great storyline that continues to grow and expand but also loops around and cause ah-ha moments when you are just like wow that makes so much sense.
Personally I love this show and have watched every episode and season with some breaks taken in between. Since there are so many episodes and seasons you need to give yourself a binge break and dabble in another show to refresh your brain and then hop back into it in order to make it, especially if you are starting fresh and just powering through. For me, the episodes and seasons can get a little long and some are not as great as others but overall the show as a whole is well worth the watch.
The top ten reasons on why to watch this show was: the car, the never-ending but intentive deaths, the comic relief, the soundtrack, the gore, the writing, the monsters, the other hunters, Castiel angel of the lord, Bobby singer and the supporting characters, and overall Sam and Dean Winchester. This horror show is not “only action-packed and realistic; it’s a mystical underworld of paranormal beings that threaten the human way of life with modern-day anti-heroes that becomes somewhat of a guilty pleasure to indulge in. It allows the audience to escape their lives and problems without getting completely lost in the world of the unknown.” -Beth Callow
With all of these high ratings, I am really inclined to watch “Supernatural.” However, I know that with my extremely low tolerance for horror, or just suspense, I probably would not enjoy this show. However, I look forward to reading your upcoming Passion Blogs, as I am looking for a good Netflix show to begin through this quarantine.
I love Supernatural! However, I don’t really think I could get back into watching it (I stopped after the second season because I didn’t have the time) because from what I’ve seen, the show has been dragged along so far and honestly needs to get taken out back and put out of its misery. That being said, if we’re being quarantined much longer…
This show was one of my favorites in late middle school and early high school! I’m a little shocked that it went on for so long though, and I know many jokes have been made about the gymnastics that the writers go through to develop the plot.
