Welcome!
I’m excited to work with you this semester! Reading this web-based syllabus and doing the Start-Up Survey takes about one hour. Not only will this save you time and frustration later on, but you will also earn your first 50 points for doing it. Kick it off with the video short below…
Who am I?
My formal name is William Cromar, M.F.A. and I am:
- Associate Teaching Professor, B.A. in Art Program
- Coordinator, newMedia concentration
- Coordinator, Abington ∞ MakerSpace
And as an exhibiting artist, I am known as williamCromar. But when we’re in the studio, call me Bill, Professor, Mr. Cromar, Cromar… whatever level of formality you are comfortable using is fine. My pronouns? He-him-his.
What is this studio?
This description for ART 102 is found in the University Bulletin and includes information about credits, prerequisites, and what it satisfies for General Education.
Where and when is our studio?
- Our studio space: 341 Woodland, a.k.a. the Mac Lab.
- Studio meeting times: TUE – THU 9:05-11:50. We start promptly on time and use the full allotted time, though we do take brief breaks on the hour.
Can we work there outside of class time?
- YES: The Mac Lab is open during campus hours MTWR 7-10 and F 7-6. I am there MTWR 9-12 and MW 1:30-4:30, and you are free to use any open workstation. Other studios using the space may also permit this; ask the instructor. It’s free all day on Fridays. If the door is locked, visit Woodland 347 and ask to have it opened.
- PC Labs around campus are also available whenever they are not scheduled for a class.
- Abington ∞ MakerSpace is available M-F 9-5. Reserve time in the reservation tool found at the link.
And, everyone knows I’m obsessed with my spirit country: Scotland! If you know Scots Gaelic, you can call me Uilleam — WOOL-yum — or in the Scots language Wullie — WELL-y. I cook up a mean haggis at holiday time. And my tartan is Farquharson Ancient, a particularly beautiful one, so of course I wear my kilt to every graduation!
Do you have a spirit country? Let me know about it!
Fàilte don stiùidio — welcome to the studio!
