New Technologies on Campus & Beyond

I just wanted to share some of the new technologies available around campus and the web that might be of interest!

One Button Studio

One Button StudioWe now have a wonderful media set-up in the library which includes multiple Mac stations to edit video using iMovie, a whisper room for creating podcasts, and our brand new One Button Studio which makes it possible to combine the use of a green screen, TV for PowerPoint presentations, lighting, and camera for recording. With the insertion of a flash drive and the touch of a button, lights turn on and the recording commences. Another Mac editing station is in the studio to make quick edits to the video automatically stored on the flash drive. Here’s more info on the OBS.

Making Interactive Video using H5P

h5p examplesAt our July Learning Design Summer Camp for instructional designers, I had the chance to learn more about H5P, an open source tool that  makes it possible to add interaction to videos. Do you want your videos to stop at certain places and pose a quiz question to students? There are many more kinds of interactions available for free. Anyone interested in exploring this further, get in touch! Click on the link to explore further.

Nearpod

Are you already using student handheld devices in your classes? Then you might want to check out Nearpod to create lessons and interactions that let you control the pace and interaction on those devices. Here’s how it works
