K2 Roots Review

For this week’s food review I will be reviewing a raw juicery called K2 roots. I decided that instead of reviewing food like I usually do, I would review a healthy beverage option that would be good for any of us trying to implement healthy beverages into our lifestyle! However, I will note that I only tried one beverage so my review may be a bit inaccurate in that sense… but I do intend on going back to give a better, more extensive review if that is something that you guys would be interested in! So let me know!

To begin my review I would like to mention what drew me to K2 Roots. K2 Roots is very conveniently placed in the heart of State College, near Target and Dunkin Donuts. I frequently passed K2 on my way to target a few times a week, and I always saw customers sitting outside on the patio chairs sipping lattes and snacking on cute deserts. Just yesterday I decided that before my math class, I would stop by and take a look at the menu.

When I walked in, the first thing that I noticed was the small, cute cafe environment. The place looked very clean and tidy and was decorated very nicely I saw college students working on their laptops and sipping their drinks, the same way people would in a Starbucks, for example. However, I will note that ordering was very overwhelming. Typically, I try to research the online menus of new restaurants that I’ve never tried before I enter for the first time. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the online menu anywhere. When you click on their website, all that is shown is how to preorder their raw juices, but none of their other drink and food options come up such as coffees, smoothies, and pastries.

After scouring the menu for a few minutes, I finally decided on the cinnamon spice almond milk latte. When I asked the man at the counter what exactly was in the latte, because the menu didn’t specify it, he gave me a very unhelpful shoulder shrug and an “uhh I don’t know.” I found this to be very rude and unhelpful, but I still proceeded to order the drink. The drink was a bit over $5 which I thought was a bit pricey but I told myself that the supposed “healthiness” would justify the price.

But boy was I wrong. I waited a good 10-15 minutes for my drink which I was a bit ticked off by being that there was absolutely NO ONE ELSE ORDERING. No one was in like in front of me. I was the only person who placed an order and all it was was a latte. But that’s beside the point. When I took my first sip I was immediately hit with an overpowering taste of ginger. The latte didn’t even seem like it was properly stirred, as the ginger specks and other spices seemed to stick to the back of my throat. There’s no way to sugarcoat it… it was absolutely disgusting.

I wound up throwing out the latte after just a few sips because I absolutely couldn’t bear to drink it anymore. I was extremely curious as to what the ingredients were in the latte that the worker couldn’t tell me, so I did my own research and found the ingredients in one of their recent Instagram posts. The ingredients consisted of cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, ginger, coconut sugar, and a hint of agave.

Overall I would rate this place a 1/5. The service was horrible, the wait time was horrible, and the drink was horrible. Based on my first experience, I would not recommend this place. Perhaps it was just the unhelpful employee or maybe it was just a bad day. I don’t know… but I’m debating on going back again and ordering a juice. Perhaps lattes just aren’t their strong suit! LOL

Oh wow! I’m really sorry that you had this experience but I’m glad that you did it for the sake of journalism lol. Part of me says you should try it again but if you ask for another ingredients list and they don’t give you a straight answer, run girl run! It just goes to show that not every trendy spot is as swanky on the inside as it looks on the outside. Great Work!

Wow. I’ve seen this place a bunch of times but I’m wary of trying new juices since I like my stuff straight up not all mixed together. That sucks that the employee was so rude like that, if they don’t know they should ask someone!! I would say try it again for your own sake but I do know that if it were me, I’d never go back. That is definitely no way to get good business. Thank you!

Oh dear! That does not sound like a fun experience at all, I’m sorry!
I definitely don’t want to force you to go back to somewhere you didn’t enjoy, but if you find something interesting online (not the menu since I know you mentioned there isn’t one, but somewhere like a forum or review or something) that you would like to try, then you can give it a shot if you want! Up to you 🙂
Whatever place you end up reviewing next, I’m excited to read!

I can not believe ths is the same place I frequent twice a week. As the chief meteorologist of one of the largest private weather serviices in the world, working 60-70 hours a week at the age of 67 an still a naitonally ranked drug free bodybuilder I can not afford to put anything but the best in me. So iI respectfully and vehemently disagree with your hit piece on a great place
