During the GOP debate, Donald TRump admitted to the possibility of running as a third party candidate if he does not win the primary. If he in fact does this, this could really hurt the republican party in the final election. Right now, Donald Trump is leading in the polls. Many political analysts say this is the case because he has put much more money into his campaign than the other candidates. It is too early for the super pacs to use their resources to fund people. Donald trump, however, is personally funding his own campaign, so he is able to put up millions of dollars right at the beginning of the race. So, assuming Trump does not win the primary, why is it bad if he runs as a third party?
Trump has devoted followers that will stick with him until the end. These people love the fact that he is a no nonsense, straight to the point kind of guy. Trump speaks his mind as many of us know. If Trump actually does run as a third party, he will take a large portion of republican voters away from the elected primary candidate. This gives democrats the majority of the votes. Right now, Trump says he plans to win the primary and continue to be a conservative republican. If he doesn’t win, however, he will hurt all republicans by running as a third party. The author of the Fox News article used a lot of logos to appeal to its readers. Logically, it makes sense that running as a third party will hurt republicans. Obviously, Trump does not understand this logic.
