July 2021:
Dr. Ray Chaudhuri and his student Sayan participated in the 2021 APOGEE Summer camp that took place during 19-23 July. APOGEE stands for Anything is POssible for Girls in Electrical Engineering, which is organized annually in the EE department. This year it took place virtually — please see the official website (url). Dr Ray Chaudhuri gave a short presentation to the campers, introducing the topic titled “ENERGY SAVING IN SMART BUILDINGS USING IOT’ — APOGEE2021
He and his student then demonstrated smart occupancy sensing using two modes – (a) proximity sensing and (b) noise sensing. The demonstration showed control of lighting, stepper motor and speed modulation of a DC motor through Adafruit Crickit and Circuit Playground Express in response to these modes. Campers were told to build upon this demonstration to develop their own control methods. Check out the following video showing the demo — (url)
Many thanks to Mr. Sayan Samanta, Ph. D. student from SUPERgroup, whose help was crucial in planning and execution of this demonstration.
July 2020:
Dr. Ray Chaudhuri participated in the 2020 APOGEE Summer camp that took place during 20-24th July. APOGEE stands for Anything is POssible for Girls in Electrical Engineering, which is organized annually in the EE department. This year it took place virtually — please see the official website (url). Dr Ray Chaudhuri gave a short presentation to the campers, introducing the topic titled “Power & the IoT: Smart homes to smart grid’ — APOGEE2020
He then demonstrated the temperature sensing on-off control and speed modulation of a DC motor through Adafruit Crickit and Circuit Playground Express. Campers were given tasks to include pricing signals to the temperature control. Check out the following video showing what it can do — (url)
Many thanks to Mr. Sayan Samanta, Ph. D. student from SUPERgroup, whose help was crucial in planning and execution of this demonstration.
