Hey everyone! Thank you so much for tuning back into my little blog. I’m continuing with my switch up from last week and blogging about fun trees to climb in and around Penn State! I won’t be changing the name of my blog to anything climbing related on the off chance that tree climbing is frowned upon on Penn State property, I think that would just make it easier for me to get found out. Anyways, the tree of the week (courtesy of this week’s Tree Time group) was a nice tree immediately to the right of Old Main. It’s pretty easy to walk past since some of its branches slope all the way to the ground, blocking the view of the trunk and lower acces branches. Thankfully, someone noticed it before and we all agreed it’s a great tree to climb. It had great access points so pretty much anyone who wanted to climb was able to get up easily or with little assistance. Once you were up though, there were only a few good spots to sit, so if you wanted to get a good seat, you had to go up. I loved that this tree could be as easy or difficult to climb as you wanted it to be. I personally was in the mood for a little more of a challenge for myself, so while ascending to a better seat, I decided to go around and up in a way that had more difficult to reach branches and required some weird movements to get to. For a while, I had the highest seat in the tree until another friend joined our group and got higher. I must say, Tree Time has been a wonderful addition to my week. We go up, we chat, and then we come back down. It’s a great break from regular school activities. While we were up there this time, my one friend who plays Ultimate Frisbee was showing me his game reels in order to teach me the basic rules. I decided to join an IM ultimate frisbee team despite not knowing how to even throw a frisbee so everyone was pitching in to teach me the basics. Overall, I’d say this was a great climbing experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice tree to climb. It can be easy for beginners, or more challenging if you’re looking for something like that too. Thanks for reading and I hope to see you all here next week!
This is such a creative topic! You also presented it in an interesting and entertaining way! I also love how you mentioned why you were climbing the tree in the first place!
Walking around campus and seeing all the trees around and yet I never even thought of trying to climb one. It seems these days most of us are swamped with work and when we aren’t doing work for classes we still have other things holding our attention. I ought to take more time to look up at the trees and take in the scenery around campus more, and maybe find a nice tree to climb.
Great addition to your blog. Break up your paragraphs for easier reading, please. Blogs typically have broken up paragraphs. Here is a good example.

I really enjoyed reading this, Nora! I love how you implied that taking a break from school activities to become fully immersed in nature is super important. I will definitely have to check out that tree the next time I’m having cabin fever here in the dorms!
I honestly have never stopped and hung out on Old Main like that which is interesting because I pass through there all the time. The leaves are absolutely stunning this time of year so the tree climb must have been beautiful. I loved your informal tone with this and I find it very beautiful that you are learning new things despite never having experience. Good luck with frisbee!
Great post! I love that you take time out of your week to take a break from school and hang out with friends. Good luck with IM ultimate frisbee! Sounds like fun!
