“25 Delicious Ways to Eat More Fruits & Vegetables + Easy Tips for Eating More Every Day”. The title itself is a mouthful, but the article itself already caught my eye just by saying “25 Delicious Ways to Eat More Fruits and Vegetables”, seeing as I am currently looking for more ways to spice up my diet. The author behind this wonderful article is EA Stewart. She’s a registered dietitian nutritionist, nutrition coach, nutrition communications consultant, and a guru at Spicy RD Nutrition.
The author shared something that really intrigued me into reading more about her when she said that she has been diagnosed with Sjogren’s Syndrome and fibromyalgia after giving birth to her children. She has a separate blog post discussing about her nutrition journey- where she discussed more about how she came about having this disease, how she found out that she had celiac disease too while she was doing additional research, and the challenges that she had to face while battling this syndrome, which was really inspiring.

The layout of her blog is really plain and simple, but not in a boring kind of way. I really like how she categorized her headers on the right side of her blog which makes it really easy for her readers to navigate through her blogs posts- from her personal information, to her latest posts, and so forth.
I really enjoy reading her blog posts, as she addresses her audience in an informal way, which makes it feel like I’m listening or speaking to a friend instead of sitting for a talk, where everything is so formal and serious. The information that she wrote about in her blog posts seems accurate, but there were no supporting evidence for it, such as citation, or the website that she got the information from. She did however, give credit to the blogs or authors where she retrieved some of her recipes from by providing links to their website at the bottom of the pictures, or next to the title of the food.
EA Stewart relates to her audience by understanding them in a non-judgmental kind of way. For example, under the “How to Determine Your Optimal Vegetable and Fruit Rx” section, she said that “Only eating an average of 1-2 servings per day? That’s ok-you’re not alone!” This statement was followed up by how she encouraged people to increase their portion sizes for their vegetable and fruit intake one step at a time and not to rush the whole process. This really implies to me that she knows that it’s hard to make a big change in diet for some people, and she was really understanding about that.
The author also inserted many pictures related to the topics that she was talking about throughout her blog post which were really colorful and mouthwatering, which was a technique that she used to capture her audience’s attention. She also provided links for her readers to click on if they were interested in the type of foods that she mentioned. EA also encourages her readers to keep in touch with her if they have any problems whatsoever that is related with nutrition, their personal lifestyle, or how they would want to change and improve themselves, which proves that she wants to be connected to her audience.
I would definitely incorporate the way she connects with her audience in my style of writing because I think that it is a really efficient in terms of relating with real problems that people face about their nutrition lifestyle, as well as hearing about other people’s opinions so that I could improve myself as well. I would also include pictures in my blog to attract the reader’s attention. I would want them to see the outcome of the food by looking at pictures instead of just imagining them in their heads. Her blog is really inspiring and I could see that it really inspired some of her readers based on what I read the comments section below.
