The nutrition education material that I chose was a brochure on healthy family dinners. Created by the Healthy Shady Partnership, this brochure is very plain, done in black and white and only two sided. There is very good information on the brochure though. They get right to the point and tell why the family dinners are important and what skipping them would do to the family as a whole and individually. They give tons of resources for information on the benefits of family meals and also good easy recipe banks to get meal ideas. The most surprising thing about this material is that they don’t just show why it is good, but also what harm can come if you do not have family meals. The most interesting thing to me about the brochure was actually the recipe banks that they provided. I enjoyed looking at the easy to make foods and the availability of resources for the audience intended for this brochure. As a nutrition educator, I would use this material as a teaching aid, allowing my audience to go home with this resource to reinforce what we talked about in class and to go forth in producing positive outcomes in their family units.
