This spring, the Biology Department will once again be offering BIOL 475N – “Anatomy in Italy: Cadavers, Culture and Science.” This 3-credit course, listed as a “fascinating blend of Biology and History, investigating the evolution of anatomy and physiology in Renaissance Italy” can be used as either a GH or GN course. It will meet once per week this spring at UP and includes a co-requisite course, IT 175: Italian Language & Culture for Embedded Experiences Abroad which will meet twice per week this spring. All students must be enrolled in both courses. Over Spring Break 2019 all students and instructors will then travel to Florence, Bologna and Verona.
To be eligible to enroll in this course, students must:
- Complete either BIOL 129 or BIOL 141 or BIOL 240 or BIOL 472 or KINES 202 or another anatomy course (BIOL 297 or 497) by the end of Fall 2018.
- Apply for course entry by September 22, 2018 by e-mailing all of the following information to AnatomyInItaly@psu.edu: your full name, Penn State email address, 9-digit ID number, major, class standing (i.e. sophomore, junior, etc.), current cumulative GPA, and a statement about why you would like to enroll in this course.
- If accepted, there will be a course travel fee of $3250 (for airfare, lodging, ground transportation, museum admission and some meals).
