The Keystone Diabetic Kids Camp (KDKC) has an awesome volunteer experience for nutrition and dietetic majors. KDKC is a camp where kids with type 1 diabetes can come to have fun, meet other kids with diabetes and experience camp life.
KDKC is looking for individuals who are sophomore, junior or senior year in school that are interested in getting volunteer nutrition experience. Some responsibilities are to determine the carbohydrate count of meals and snacks, helping the campers to count their carbohydrates during meal times, creating a nutrition education lesson
for the age group they are assigned to and to be active/participate at various activities throughout the camp day.Throughout the week campers work closely with doctors, healthcare professionals, counselors and nutrition interns to learn more about their diabetes and management in a casual, non-clinical environment.
KDKC is located on Camp Victory’s camp site https://campvictory.org/
and will be June 16-21,2019. However, the volunteers will be expected
to arrive on June 15, 2019.
If you are interested in having this experience, please have them fill out an application at https://www.kdkc.org/volunteer
