Online Course Quality Program

Overview

The Berks Online Course Quality (OCQ) Program promotes and supports quality online course design and delivery to ensure that online learning students achieve the same learning outcomes as their peers in a face-to-face classroom learning environment.

All online courses offered at Penn State Berks must meet online course quality standards and conform to the AA level of accessibility conformance as set forth by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 and recommended by Penn State.

This program awards faculty who embrace the challenges of online instructional delivery and commit themselves to meeting the Penn State Quality Assurance e-Learning Design Standards and accommodating the learning needs of all students.

The program applicant is strongly encouraged to work with the Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT) staff in the online course design and development process. This program also offers CLT support for substantially revising an existing online course design to meet the Penn State Quality Assurance e-Learning Design Standards and comply with the Course Accessibility Guidelines.

Due to the current budget situation, currently there is no funding support for this program.

An annual review of the OCQ program is coordinated by a designated Penn State Berks Strategic Initiative Task Force to evaluate its effectiveness and identify the changes to be made to the program.
