Welcome back to PSU Sports News people. It’s a bit of an early post this week because as I’m sure you all are aware, THON is this weekend, and I won’t have time to cover the goings-on related to our sports tomorrow evening as I’m working the event for most of the weekend. However, despite that, there have been plenty of developments to cover throughout the last week, so let’s get right into it as always.
Starting off with men’s volleyball, as expected, they started the week off solidly. Last Friday, they took a 3-0 win from Harvard in straight sets. It was a better game than I thought it would be, with the second set going to a deuce even, but our guys brought home another solid win. They followed that up with another clean sweep of 3-0 against Sacred Heart the next day. Those were their only games this week, but we’re ranked top 5 for a reason, and it’s showing. I have faith that we’ll keep this overwhelming winning streak going throughout the next weeks, but for now, let’s move on.
Getting into basketball, overall, it wasn’t as bad of a week as last week was for us. That being said, the guys did start the week off with a loss of 70-76 against Minnesota. Our team is good, and we’ve been playing well, but to see most of our opponents winning by 2 plays or less is still pretty disheartening. They brought it back though, on Tuesday night, with a 62-58 win over number 19 Michigan State, so at least they were able to break their losing streak. The news gets better, as they took another win, this one pretty substantial, putting up 67-46 against Minnesota last night. That was all for this week, so let’s pray the wins are a sign of good things to come. The ladies had a similar experience this week, starting off on Sunday night by taking a loss of 62-71 at Rutgers, but they also brought it back last night with an 83-76 win over Nebraska. This is great news considering their losing streak has been enormous compared to the guys. Let’s hope this is a good sign for them as well.
Moving on, hockey went pretty well this week, with the ladies winning their rematch against LIU Saturday night 2-0. Wasn’t the 10-0 blowout they had the night before, but a win is still a win. That was their only game for the week, and if I had time, I’d cover tonight’s game against RIT, but let’s just have faith that they’ll keep their winning streak going. That was pretty much it for this week because the only game for the men’s team is tonight, so we’ll cover that next week.
Finally, the wrestling season is wrapping up, with the last of the regularly scheduled matches taking place on Sunday, but with our perfect record, we have little to fear going into Big 10 championships starting March 5th. That being said, baseball starts up today, so that’s something to look forward to for the coming two weeks. I can cheer on my boy Kyle Hannon as he starts crushing it this season.
I’d say it was a pretty tame week, but that’s all ok when we’re putting up stats as we have been over the week. This was PSU Sports News, and I will be back with all the new developments next week folks!

Om, glad to hear that PSU sports continue to prosper. Moreover, the volleyball team seems to be on a tear, with the 5th overall rank and keeping teams at 0 games. Similarly, basketball seems to be coming up as games keep getting closer, and we finally beat a ranked team. Hockey seems to be on the come up as well with a win this week. Finally, wrestling is still on a tear, and I expect a big10 championship.
