Medium Vanilla Shake

My tastebuds tingle just thinking about a medium vanilla shake from DairyQueen. A timely classic, the vanilla milkshake serves as the go to drink for the warm summer nights. Some may say it’s only ice cream, but I disagree. Although, there are debates between vanilla and chocolate, the correct answer will always be vanilla. Nothing can beat the customizability of vanilla – it is the staple, after all!

The medium vanilla shake is quite simple, there’s only 4 ingredients: vanilla soft serve, 2% milk, vanilla extract, and whipped cream. Even though it is simple, vanilla shake will shake you up. Vanilla ice cream serves as the foundation of the shake, giving it a rich and luscious flavor. Milk creates the perfect milkshake consistency, creating a creamy texture. What’s the best part of the shake? The vanilla extract of course! The vanilla extract lends it delectable flavor and unforgetting aroma. It’s the reason for the medium vanilla shake’s classic taste. Finally, to top things off, vanilla shakes are topped off whipped topping. Get it? Whipped topping adds a touch of sweetness! Although, not found at our DQ, you can serve a vanilla shake with a maraschino cherry, adding a burst of color.

Now that we know the ingredients, let me teach you how to make a medium vanilla milkshake:

  1. First grab a medium shake cup. We keep ours on top of the slushy machine (a post for another time).
  2. Fill the cup to the blue line with 2% milk, DQ standards!
  3. Since we’re making a medium shake, we add 3 pumps of vanilla extract to maximize the flavor.
  4. Put a lid on the cup and fill it up with ice cream until the point
  5.  where the lid and cup meet; this is the perfect amount of ice cream. We’re almost done!
  6. Turn the dial on the blizzard machine to 30, and insert the cup all the way up machine.
  7. Press your foot on the foot pedal and move the cup around.
  8. While your foot is on the foot pedal take the cup out of the machine.
  9. Finally, get your whipped topping and top it off.

Wow! Now you can make a medium vanilla shake at DQ! The vanilla shake is one of the simplest menu items to make.

Like most things at DQ, the medium vanilla shake contains the quality of customizable. Customers can add any topping to their shake, with a charge of $0.59. Additionally, customers can add any candy pieces; a lot of people who add candy pieces opt to make a Oreo shake, yummmmmmmmmm.

Medium is the perfect size for the vanilla shake because a small is too small and the large is too large! The medium leaves you satisfied for your current trip, but you’ll come back the next week.

The medium vanilla shake from Dairy Queen isn’t just a dessert; it’s a timeless treat!   Your taste buds will thank you, and you’ll leave with a smile that’s as sweet as the shake itself. 1. This made me super hungry for a milkshake! I will not lie… I am more of a chocolate milkshake girl more than I am a vanilla milkshake girl. Nonetheless I will still drink a vanilla milkshake because at the end of the day a milkshake is a milkshake. When I go to Dairy Queen I never get milkshakes, only blizzards, but I love the fact that you can add things into your milkshake. I will have to try a milkshake the next time I go to Dairy Queen.

  2. Vanilla is definitively the way to go. I don’t care for chocolate flavored treats much. That being said I love chocolate but something about mixing it with other things like ice cream and cake is something that doesn’t work to well for my taste buds. Either way I enjoy how customizable vanilla is like you said. The simplicity should not be undervalued because that is really what makes this good.

  3. I have never had any flavor of milkshake from dairy queen before, but I have had milkshakes from a variety of other restaurant chains. Unless there is a special flavor such as cookies and cream or mint chocolate chip, I usually find myself turning to old reliable: vanilla. I have always loved vanilla flavored desserts, but your vivid description of the vanilla milkshake from Dairy Queen has definitely put me in the mood for a vanilla treat while I’m still able to enjoy warm weather.

  4. Thank you for the detailed description of how to make the best vanilla shake! But as you mentioned, there is always a debate you can’t escape from. I personally prefer either chocolate or vanilla, but the one and only – strawberry flavor. I have never tried any Dairy Queen milkshake, but trust me you would like a fresh, sweet strawberry milkshake with some real strawberry pieces mixed in. The sourness of strawberry explodes in a world full of sweets, make the creamy milkshake special and highlights your next taste.

  5. Nothing beats a classic vanilla shake. Through timeless flavors for simplicity, vanilla ice cream (and likewise, vanilla shakes) have always captured my love and appreciation. When I was very little, I was a picky eater. Every time we’d go out for ice cream, my family would always tease me because I would opt for classic vanilla every time. While nowadays my palette has matured, I still like to go back to my roots and get a simple cup of vanilla from time to time, for nostalgia’s sake.
