It’s been almost a month since the last time I wrote about DQ!! Since the last blog post, I went home for spring break and worked a few shifts, but when I would come home at night and open the freezer, I would find myself indulging in a chocolate dilly bar. I don’t like to snack on desserts, often, but these sweet treats had me going for more everyday.
The best way I can describe a dilly bar is that it is like a dipped cone on a stick. My favorite is the chocolate dilly bar which is Dairy Queen’s signature soft serve, encased in a thick, crunchy chocolatey shell. The first bite gives you the crunch of the chocolate shell, but as you going deeper, you shell gives way to the smooth vanilla ice creaming, creating a contrast between smooth and crunchy. Dairy Queen’s commitment to quality means that each Dilly Bar is made with care, ensuring that the chocolate coating is just the right thickness to complement the ice cream without overpowering it. The result is a balanced, satisfying treat that’s perfect for any occasion.
Of course, with all things Dairy Queen, there are more options than just the chocolate dilly bar. The Dilly Bar also comes in cherry, butterscotch, and Heath. The heath dilly bar is a little different than the rest. The ice cream and the chocolate shell have Heath pieces in it. Additionally, DQ also sells no sugar added dilly bars and non dairy dilly bars. Both of these options are perfect if you have dietary restrictions.
Although not many Dairy Queens make these by hand anymore, my franchise still prides itself on handcrafting each delectable Dilly Bar with care and precision, ensuring unparalleled freshness and flavor.
Ultimately, the Chocolate Dilly Bar serves as a delicious representation of Dairy Queen’s commitment to traditional flavors and high-quality confections. It’s more than simply dessert; with each bite, you’re taken on a nostalgic journey, reminded of the small things in life, and celebrated for its ageless flavor. There’s a Dilly Bar to suit every taste, be it the classic chocolate crunch or the daring Heath blend. The next time you find yourself reaching into the freezer, keep in mind that you’re relishing a piece of Dairy Queen’s rich history, one delectable Dilly bar at a time, rather than merely indulging in a sweet delight.
So, next time you drive by a DQ, make sure to stop and order a Chocolate Dilly Bar.
MAN, the dilly bar brings me way back. I remember my AYSO Soccer days, running around the hot field, and then going to dairy queen after. I would always just get the dipped cone, but my brother, Jake, would always get a dilly bar. Even though they’re the same thing, I think I always preferred the dilly bar, because I would always steal a bite from Jake. Don’t ask why I wouldn’t just get one myself though, because I couldn’t tell you; I was a weird kid!
I can’t tell you how much of a staple the Dilly Bar was in my childhood. Anytime I was at DQ, that was always the thing that I got. My mother would always get the Heath Dilly Bar, and I never really indulged in the different flavors of the Dilly Bar until one day I decided to take a bite out of my mother’s Dilly Bar and asked for a trade for mine. It was from then on I tried the different flavors, but the chocolate will always be a classic that you can’t go wrong with. What’s your favorite Dilly Bar flavor?
I have never tried the dilly bar, but I’ve had many similar products and I really like them. I personally do not like chocolate ice cream, but I have always loved chocolate covered ice creams for some unknown reason. The other flavors you mentioned, however, caught my attention. I have never had cherry dipped ice cream but it’s definitely something that I would want to try. If you had to add another flavor, which would it be?
I actually used to work for my local Dairy Queen when I was a freshman in high school. This really brings me back to the countless amount of Dilly Bars we sold, especially in the late summer months. Personally, my favorites were the chocolate and the Heath Bars whenever we had any in stock.
My store made the standard Dilly Bars from scratch and sold the factory made no sugar and Heath varieties. Did your store also make the original flavors at your location or did your operation opt to buy everything from corporate?
I forgot about Dilly Bars! Whenever I went to DQ with my grandfather he’d either get a sundae or a dilly bar, he loved them! I have never had the cherry-dipped one but I’ve always wanted to try it. You stated your favorite dilly bar was chocolate and I have to agree because it’s the only one I have ever tried- a classic. I’d definitely think I would like butterscotch too honestly. You are spot on with the nostalgia it brings and when you talk about DQ in your blogs I am constantly flooded with childhood memories. I’d like to ask you your favorite DQ product or products? I personally miss DQ up here as we aren’t super close to one and plan on getting it as soon as I go home.
There is nothing like a Dilly Bar from Dairy Queen! It’s such a dessert classic having vanilla ice cream with a chocolate shell around it and definitely brings me back to the days of summer in my backyard enjoying one with friends after elementary school. I knew there was a cherry flavor but did not know there was a butterscotch or heath flavor. I might have to try those when I go home next weekend.
While I have never had a Chocolate Dilly Bar from DQ myself, I grew up on ice cream bars similar to this and still enjoy them to this day. I especially appreciate the variety of unique flavors that DQ offers with their Dilly bars, as they include multiple demographics when they have various options for consumers to select from. Do you think the Dilly bars would have a different effect on consumers like yourself if they weren’t handmade like they are now?
Another amazing blog! I think there is something so classic about nice ice cream wrapped in a crunchy or chocolatey exterior. Some of my favorite desserts have been variations of the Klondike bar, and this seems like another perfect extension of that type of food. I have to ask, though, do you prefer ice cream bars on a stick in posicle form or without, similar to the aforementioned Klondike bar? I actually have never had a dilly bar, but from how you describe it, it would be an instant classic in my household. I’ll have to try one the next time I’m in an area with a DQ!
