Open Resources

Penn State has a lot of institutional support for open educational resources. There are two primary point people to help faculty adopt or author new course materials. Julie Lang is the OER Coordinator for Teaching and Learning with Technology and Amanda Larson is the Open Education Resources Librarian. To learn all about OER, Penn State has a dedicated online presence.

If you are interested in adopting an open textbook or authoring your own textbook, the best place to start is with Julie and Amanda. They can help you explore your options, evaluate quality, and make the best choice for your course and your students. We realize that the process of selecting course texts is not taken lightly and that these materials have a tremendous impact on the student learning experience. Quality is absolutely a critical factor of open resources and something we consider when helping courses think through their open options.
