Role of the Department Head in the Management Plan Process

As Department Head, you may or may not have a role in the management plan process. In some circumstances, you may be asked to take a more active role with the following:

  • Monitoring Compliance: Understanding the specific terms of the management plan and ensuring the faculty member is adhering to them.
  • Periodic Check-Ins: Depending on the plan, this might involve scheduled discussions with the faculty member to review their activities and any potential concerns.
  • Record-Keeping (If applicable): Maintaining any required documentation related to the oversight process.
  • Communication with COI Program: Serving as a point of contact if questions or potential issues arise related to the management plan within the department.

Generally, these activities are conducted in conjunction with ICOI /COI program staff. The ICOI / COI program will reach out to you if circumstances require that you conduct any of the activities above.
