Meet Jess

Jess McKeon

Research Assistant

Hi. My name is Jess McKeon. I’m a Psychology major in my senior year here at Penn State. I usually do yoga, travel, or read when I’m not chasing my three kids around or watching Top Gear reruns with my husband. I’m a polyglot and enjoy learning new languages and cultures. My goals are to obtain fluency in the magical language of statistics, become familiar with the research process, and create a network of professional and personal friendships.

BA in Psychology, Spring 2024 | Penn State World Campus

Research Topics:

My research focuses on Capitalism as a culture and Intrinsic Motivation: specifically that monetization of success in Western capitalistic cultures harms intrinsic motivation; Deindividuation in consumer driven cultures: does monetization and lack of resources result in “quiet quitting”; and culture of failure in classroom settings: how restructuring testing and grading can increase performance and motivation.
