Business Systems Analyst Intern – Summer 2020

As a Business Systems Analyst Intern at MetLife, my primary responsibility was to talk to MetLife businesspeople and collect information about a certain functionality they wanted to have added to an application they use daily. I met with the people who requested this functionality and translated the business needs into functional requirements for my software development team.

While the software developers wrote the code, I offered high-level solutions as to how the system’s logic would be programmed and I was in charge of collecting, normalizing, and updating the data that would be used on the back end. I also created test cases so we could account for all possible vulnerabilities in the code, and I presented the final product to the group who requested it.

We successfully created the front end and back end for the business in just three three-week sprints and had enough time to help start a reverse engineering project before the experience came to an end.

Resume Website – Spring 2020

In order to demonstrate my understanding and proficiency in front end development, I created a personal website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. While I am not planning on working solely as a developer in the future, I feel that it is important to have full stack development experience just in case I have to get my hands dirty writing code with the devs.

This was the first time I created a website from scratch, so it is a little rough around the edges, but without having the experience of writing webpages from scratch, I will not be as prepared to work directly alongside developers as I could be. Check out my website here.

Java Graphical Application – Fall 2019

I worked with 3 other students and we created a graphical application using Java that has 3 playable games. This was my first time working with graphics in Java so we started by making a UML diagram so we could model our complex system. Working with graphics in Java was fun as I had to apply my knowledge of inheritance to our frames and panels, and had to event handle to ensure that an event occurred once an action was performed.

The three games we created were:

  • Click Me
    • Demonstrated knowledge of timers, physical randomness, and counting.
  • Single-Player Pong
    • Used complex timers, physics, sound, and complex counting.
  • Rock, Paper, Scissors
    • Created our own computer that competes against the player.

Download the application from my GitHub repo here!

eCommerce Database – Fall 2018

I created the schema for a fictitious eCommerce retailer in order to show understanding of database organization. I ensured the schema included one-to-one, one-to-many, and many-to-many relationships.

Design Thinking Project – Summer 2018

I chose an application that I believed needed to be redesigned (GoPSUSports) and went through the Design Thinking Process in order to create a mid-fidelity prototype of my ideal version of the application. I collected user feedback of the original application and of my redesign to collect presentable metrics and data visualizations to show how user satisfaction increased.

You can click though the prototype here!
