Each Sanitary Pad Making Site we Develop Costs Approximately $10,000 USD.
These Funds go towards…
- Complete Pad making unit with raw material for 3 extra months.
- Infrastructure support – facility setup, machine assembly & maintenance, etc.
- Medical camp facility and menstrual health camp for women in the region.
- Operating support for 3-6 months; i.e Incinerator, packing covers for pad material.
- Launch of the project with press coverage, marketing, and promotional support.
Once a pad project is established, it becomes its own self sustaining business operated by women within the community. This creates opportunities for women outside the home while also improving their menstrual health!
The specific site that will receive our donations this year is the Irula tribal society of Southern India. The Irula tribal livelihood depends on herbal plantations, snake catching, and farming. There are over 14,000 Irula families. Running a pad machine operation would create much needed external economic activity for Irula women, empower them, and improve their menstrual hygiene. Please donate to help us get closer to achieving our goal of improving the health and opportunities for these women!
